Wake Forest School of Medicine
Caleb Bercu (he/him) is an MS3 at Wake Forest School of Medicine where he is pursuing his MD. Mr. Bercu is the creator and director of the Advanced Training in Gender and Sexual Minority Health Care Certificate program at Wake Forest. Prior to medical school, Mr. Bercu founded and led a non-profit in Ghana creating laboratories from low-cost materials for female secondary school students. Mr. Bercu also supported the federal government as a health care consultant in Washington, DC working with the Department of Veteran’s affairs. While consulting Mr. Bercu represented LGBTQ+ interests for 23,000 employees as the Transgender Liaison of the consulting firm and worked pro-bono with the National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) to improve Fortune 500 HR policies for transgender people. As a physician, Mr. Bercu hopes to continue his service as an inclusive patient advocate and medical educator.
