Maurice M. Garcia, MD, MAS is Associate Clinical Professor of Urologic Surgery In Residence at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he serves as Director of the Cedars-Sinai Transgender Surgery and Health Program. Dr. Garcia specializes in genital reconstructive surgery, including gender affirming masculinizing and feminizing genital surgery, neurourology, sexual medicine, and is Director for the Cedars-Sinai Genital Reconstruction Sexual Medicine Surgery Fellowship for urologists, plastic surgeons and gynecologists.
Dr. Garcia completed his residency in Urology and Fellowship training in Andrology and Neurourology at UCSF. He completed a 2-year Master’s Degree in Clinical Research in the Department of Biostatistics and Epidemiology at UCSF. He then completed clinical fellowships in masculinizing [FtM] and feminizing [MtF] genital gender affirming surgery in London and Brighton, UK.
He is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and is co-author of the upcoming WPATH Standards of Care clinical guidelines v8.0. He serves as the AUA Core Curriculum Section Editor for Transgender Surgery.
Dr. Garcia directs a productive lab that publishes an average of 10 peer-reviewed research manuscripts per year. His lab is staffed by a research assistant, interested medical students, and residents and fellows from other disciplines at Cedars-Sinai. He is P.I. for NIH parent research grant (1R01CA201709-01).
