Peter R. Carroll, MD; MPH is Professor in the Department of Urology and member of the UCSF - Helen Diller Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of California, San Francisco. He holds the Ken and Donna Derr – Chevron and Taube Family Distinguished Professorships. He is an internationally recognized expert on induction, diagnosis, and management of prostate cancer. He has authored over 700 peer – reviewed papers on a range of topics in this field. Since 1995, he has been PI of CaPSURE™, a national disease registry study of over 14,000 men with prostate cancer treated at 40+ sites. At UCSF, he has developed one of the largest research and clinical programs focused on active surveillance for early-stage prostate cancer with an emphasis on biomarkers, selection criteria and outcomes. He also has developed a large cohort of men treated with radical prostatectomy, documenting outcomes and refinements in surgical technique. UCSF contributes to and collaborates with others on important national and international registries and studies. He is the recipient of numerous awards, most recently the AUA’s 2023 Ramon Guiteras Award
