Dr. Lynch is Professor and Chairman of the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital Department of Urology, Georgetown University School of Medicine Department of Urology and Chief of MedStar’s newly formed Regional Urology Service Line. He is also the Medical Director of Peri-Operative Services for MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and the Program Director for the MedStar Georgetown Urology Residency Program. Dr. Lynch is a former Director of the Prostate Cancer Center within the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. He serves as Director of the Robotic Program within the hospital. He is a Past-President of the Medical Staff. He served for ten years as co-chair of the Committee on Medical Education and was a member of the Committee on Students for the past seven years. He received the Kaiser-Permanente Teaching Award and the Founders Medal from the School of Medicine and is a member of the Magis Society of Masters Teachers of the School of Medicine. He is an expert on prostate cancer surgery, PSA screening tests, and cancer survivorship. His special interests are in urologic oncology, especially nerve-sparing radical prostatectomy, cystectomy as well as the treatment of benign prostatic enlargement. He has well over one hundred publications, one hundred and forty national and international presentations and a similar number of abstracts
Dr. Lynch has been active both regionally and nationally. He is a past-President of the Washington Urologic Society. He has been Program Chairman and Local Arrangement Chairman for several Mid-Atlantic section meetings. He served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Mid-Atlantic Section and is a Past President of the section as well. He served a term on the Executive Committee of the Society of Urology Chairs and Program Directors. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the American Urological Association and during that term served on the Finance Committee and as Chair of the Compensation Committee. He was awarded an Honorary Membership in the AUA in 2016. He is currently Chair of the Public Education Task Force for the Urology Care Foundation and a member of the AUA Publications Committee.
