Dr. Kenneth W. Angermeier joined the urology faculty at the Cleveland Clinic in 1993, and is currently Professor of Surgery (Urology) at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University. He finished his residency at the Cleveland Clinic in 1991, and completed a two-year fellowship in Adult and Pediatric Reconstructive Urology at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Upon his return to Cleveland, he set out to establish a specialized center for reconstructive urology, and this ultimately was realized. Dr. Angermeier is currently the Director of the Center for Genitourinary Reconstruction within the Glickman Urological and Kidney Institute, and it has become a regional, national, and international referral center.
Dr. Angermeier continues to have a very active clinical practice in his subspecialty of male lower urinary tract and genital reconstruction and prosthetic surgery. In addition, Dr. Angermeier serves as Associate Urology Residency Program Director, emphasizing his ongoing commitment to resident education. He is also Director of the Cleveland Clinic Fellowship in Genitourinary Reconstruction and Prosthetic Surgery.
Dr. Angermeier has received recognition for his academic pursuits and leadership abilities. He has frequently been invited to participate as speaker, moderator, and visiting surgeon at major national and international urological meetings during his career. Dr. Angermeier has also visited numerous academic institutions as Visiting Professor, and enjoys interacting with the faculty and residents. He established the National Urology Preceptorship in Adult and Pediatric Reconstruction and Prosthetic Urology 15 years ago, and continues as the director for this highly rated annual course. Dr. Angermeier is a longstanding member of the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, and is a past president of that organization. He served as a subgroup chair for the ICUD on Urethral Strictures in 2010, and was a member of the AUA guidelines panel on Male Urethral Stricture in 2016.
