Dr. W. Britt Zimmerman
W. Britt Zimmerman, DO, FACOS, FACS is an ACOS board certified urologist, associate professor, and Chairperson of the Osteopathic Surgical Subspecialities with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. His current practice focuses on urologic reconstruction, erectile dysfunction, and general urology. Dr. Zimmerman has a BS in Chemistry from High Point University in High Point, NC (1998) and his Doctor of Osteopathy from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV (2002). Dr. Zimmerman completed a traditional Osteopathic Internship at Ruby Memorial Hospital, West Virginia University, Morgantown, WV (2003) and a General Surgery internship at Charleston Area Medical Center, West Virginia University, Charleston, WV (2004).
Dr. Zimmerman completed a year of General Surgery residency at Henry Ford Bi-County Hospital, Warren, MI followed by a residency in urology at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital - Warren Campus, Warren, MI (2009). In addition, Dr. Zimmerman completed a Fellowship in Urologic Trauma and Reconstruction at the Detroit Medical Center, Detroit Receiving Hospital, Detroit, MI (2010).
Dr. Zimmerman practiced as a urologist at the Detroit Medical Center from 2010-2013. During that time, he served as Assistant Clinical Professor for the Urology Residency Program with the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, Metro-Detroit campus.
Dr. Zimmerman has professional membership in the American Urological Association, the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons, the Society of University Urologists, the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, and the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health. Dr. Zimmerman has published on trauma/reconstruction urology, erectile dysfunction, and urethroplasty.
