Dr. Renea Sturm is an Assistant Professor of Urology at UCLA. She is a physician-scientist leading bench to bedside research in surgical innovation, including multi-disciplinary collaborative work that applies novel biomaterials to tissue engineering and reconstructive surgery. The primary aim of her research is to apply basic science and technological advancements to improve equity, quality, and consistency in urologic surgery regardless of surgeon experience or care setting. Her clinical practice includes a focus on reconstructive minimally invasive and endoscopic surgery and complex hypospadias repair. Her research is supported through intra- and extramural funding sources, including the National Science Foundation, the Technology Development Group at UCLA, the UCLA Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, and the AUA/Urology Care Foundation.
