Dr. Oluwarotimi (Rotimi) Nettey was born in Nigeria and grew up in Cincinnati, OH. She received a Bachelor’s of Science in biomedical engineering from Harvard University during which she was involved in medical device development for tuberculosis therapy in India and South Africa. After a short stint as a management consultant with Accenture LLC, she matriculated at Yale School of Medicine where she was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Medical Research Fellowship to investigate electrical signaling characteristics of prestin, a protein implicated in non-syndromic hearing loss. She completed her urology residency at Northwestern University where her research focused on health disparities in prostate cancer screening both in the US and Nigeria. She is currently a fellow in the Division of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery under the leadership of Dr. Victor Nitti. Her overarching clinical interests include healthcare infrastructure development, improving access to subspecialty surgical care and surgical education in low resource settings. After fellowship, Rotimi is excited to pursue a career in academic medicine and global surgery as an assistant professor in the Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine.
