Dr Hemendra Shah is specialized in field of endourology with special interest in minimally invasive treatment of enlarged prostate and urolithiasis. He completed his urology residency from Grant Medical College, Mumbai, India and was awarded Gold Medal from Mumbai university for standing first in order of Merit in final examination. He was also awarded Gold Medal from National Board of Examinations, New Delhi in the hands of President of India Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam for standing first in country in urology board exams.
He was one of the early adaptors of Holmium laser enucleation of prostate and has experience of > 2000 HoLEP surgeries till date. His video on en-bloc HoLEP is included in AUA core curriculum. He is early adaptor of mini-PCNL and tubeless PCNL and is being offering this to his patients for over 15 years. He has mentored and trained over 50 urologists in the technique of PCNL with access, flexible ureteroscopy and HoLEP over last 18 years. He has very keen interest in academics and has published more than 70 papers in peer-reviewed journals. He is also reviewers for numerous journals in field of urology. He is also listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having removed the largest kidney stone measuring 13 cm in length endoscopically.
