Dr. Kate H. Kraft is Professor in the Department of Urology and the Mark C. McQuiggan, M.D. and Carolyn A. McQuiggan Research Professor at the University of Michigan. She received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. She completed her urology residency at Emory University and fellowship in pediatric urology at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Kraft is chief of the Division of Pediatric Urology at University of Michigan C. S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Her clinical interests include minimally invasive urologic surgery and endourology in children, pediatric andrology, and disorders of sex development. Her primary research interests include pediatric kidney stone disease, pediatric uroradiology, cryptorchidism, and surgical education.
Next to providing urologic care for children, Dr. Kraft’s primary passion is teaching the next generation of leaders in urology. She served as the University of Michigan urology residency program director from 2018-2023. Her research in assessing readiness for practice in urology residency training has been supported by the Society for Academic Urologists. Dr. Kraft recently earned her Master of Health Professions Education degree from University of Michigan. Dr. Kraft has also been recognized for her commitment to education as the 2021 recipient of the AUA Residents and Fellows Committee Teaching Award and the 2022 recipient of the Michigan Medicine GME Award for Program Director Excellence. Dr. Kraft serves on the ABU Examination Committee, the SAU Board of Directors, the Society of Women in Urology Board of Directors, and the ACS Board of Governors. Dr. Kraft is chair of the ACGME Review Committee for Urology, subspecialty editor of the Medical Education section for the Journal of Pediatric Urology, and chair of the AAP Section on Urology. She has been invited to participate in multiple leadership programs including the AUA Leadership Program.
