Moben Mirza, MD, FACS is a urologic oncologist who grew up in California and New Mexico. He received his undergraduate degree at Northwestern University in Environmental Science & Engineering. He then finished medical school and urology residency at the University of New Mexico. After finishing his fellowship in urologic oncology, he had the distinct privilege of joining his mentors on the faculty at the University of Kansas Health System.
Dr. Mirza has had the benefit of excellent teachers and has developed a strong passion in educating medical students, residents, and fellows. He is the residency program director and associate professor of urology.
Dr. Mirza serves in many hospital leadership roles including Chair of the Robotic Surgery program. He also serves an active role on the DEI cabinet. He is past president of the Kansas Urologic Society. He is an active member of the American Urological Association and a graduate of the AUA leadership course. He serves on the AUA National Medical Student Education Committee and the Education Council as well as on the board of the Society of Academic Urologist, Society of Urologic Oncology, and the SCS of the AUA. In addition to having written several peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, abstracts, and case reports, Dr. Mirza has given several presentations at regional, national, and international meetings.
Dr. Mirza’s treats his patients like family and is a strong advocate of patient education and shared decision-making. Dr. Mirza specializes in the treatment of urologic malignancies. He performs open, endoscopic, laparoscopic, and robotic surgeries. His research interests are in prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers, as well as resident and medical student education.
Dr. Mirza is very engaged in community service and leadership, interfaith initiatives, and volunteer efforts. He resides in Overland Park, KS with his beautiful wife and three wonderful sons.
