J. Christian Winters, MD FACS is currently the H. Eustis Reily Professor of Urology and Gynecology and Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. He holds a dual role as Vice Chancellor of Clinical Affairs at LSU Health and CEO of the LSU Healthcare Network. He is Board Certified in Urology, and was appointed as a Trustee to the American Board of Urology (ABU) in 2011.
A native of New Orleans, Dr. Winters earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. He completed his urology residency in the combined LSU/Ochsner program. He then completed a fellowship in female urology and voiding dysfunction at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio in 1995. He returned to LSU in 1998. He was appointed Program Director of the Ochsner/LSU Urology Residency Program in 2005, and was recognized by the AUA as Teacher of the Year in 2009 for these efforts. In 2015, he was recognized by the Society of Women in Urology with the Cristina Manthos Award for mentorship of women in urology.
He has served as President of the American Board of Urology, President of the Society of Urodynamics and Female Pelvic Medicine and Urogenital Reconstruction (SUFU), and President of the Louisiana State Urologic Society. Currently, he serves on the FPMRS subcommittee of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). Through these roles, he is frequently consulted in the area of voiding dysfunction and female urology.
