Wayne Brisbane, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine in the Department of Urology at the University of Florida College of Medicine.
Dr. Brisbane received his undergraduate degree in Biology, cum laude, from Seattle Pacific University and his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine.
He completed his internship in General Surgery and residency in Urology at the University of Washington. He also served as a Research Fellow for the Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound.
He completed his fellowship in Urologic Oncology at UCLA, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. His research includes advanced prostate cancer imaging with Micro-Ultrasound, MRI, and PSMA PET scans. Dr. Brisbane is particularly interested in using advanced imaging to guide prostate cancer focal therapy. He was awarded the prestigious Prostate Cancer Foundation – Young-Investigator Award for his work involving Micro-Ultrasound.
Dr. Brisbane specializes in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment. He is involved in multiple clinical trials, including new treatment energies for prostate cancer focal therapy: ‘NanoKnife’ (Irreversible electroporation), HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound), and Cryoablation. These treatment options are only offered by a handful of Urology programs around the country.
Dr. Brisbane is a member of the American Medical Association, American Urologic Association, American College of Surgeons, Society of Urologic Oncology, and Society of Urologic Oncology Clinical Trials Consortium.
