Dr. Juan Palou Redorta, M.D., Ph. D., is a world-renowned expert in bladder cancer. He graduated at the Medical School of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and became an urologist at the Hospital Vall d’Hebrón.
He is Professor of Urology at the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona and Chairman of the Urology Department at the Fundació Puigvert in Barcelona.
Dr. Palou is Ex-Chairman of the European School of Urology.
He is, among many others, member of the Spanish Urological Association, European Association of Urology (EAU), American Urological Association and Société International d’Urologie and active member of the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons
Dr. Palou is an expert in laparoscopy and robotic surgery belonging to a cooperative group in robotic radical cystectomy. He has collaborated with the International Consultation on Bladder Cancer, Upper tract and Penile Cancer, sponsored by the WHO and SIU. Most importantly, he has been involved in writing the EAU Guidelines for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer and upper urinary tract tumours. Dr. Palou has published many chapters in medical and urology books and more than 400 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
He has given countless lectures in national and international meetings and as a visiting professor in University Hospitals all over the world. His group has received several awards for publications, videos, oral and poster presentations at different meetings. The most known is the Hans Marberger prize in 2004 and 2021. He was recognized with the Platinum Award of European Urology Journal in 2018, the Shlomo Raz Award from the CAU in 2020 and Frans Debruyne award from the EAU in 2022. .
