Dr. Duane Hickling is an assistant professor at The Ottawa Hospital and Assistant Professor in the Division of Urology, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He obtained his MD at Western University, completed his residency training in urology at The Ottawa Hospital/University of Ottawa and following this completed a three-year combined clinical and research fellowship at New York University. There he recieved fellowship training in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery and a Master’s degree in Clinical Investigation – Translational Research. Dr.Hickling has an appointment at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute as an Associate Scientist in the Chronic Disease Program and a cross appointment with the Department of Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology, University of Ottawa. His research program focuses on innate immunity in gentiourinary tract infection pathogenesis and is supported by the Greta and John Hansen Endowed Chair in Men's Health and Basic Science Research.
