Yahir Santiago-Lastra, MD (she/her/hers) - Associate Professor and Director of the Pelvic Medicine Center - UC San Diego Health.
She specializes in diagnosing and treating a wide range of urogenital conditions in both men and women, including those caused by neurologic disorders. These include pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunction, overactive bladder, neurogenic bladder, ureteral stricture, and post-prostatectomy incontinence, among other pelvic floor disorders.
Her other areas of expertise include treating pelvic floor disorders in all genders, particularly focusing on individuals from underserved or underrepresented backgrounds. Additionally, she has a program dedicated to patients with congenital urologic conditions who are transitioning from pediatric to adult care.
Dr. Santiago-Lastra is passionate and committed to health equity, justice and representation in Urology. She is an executive committee member of Urology Unbound, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the representation and career progression of Black and Latinx urologists. Additionally, she was an inaugural member of the AUA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Task Force. She is a proud Latinx and a native Spanish speaker.
