Lee Richstone, MD is Chairman of Urology at Lenox Hill Hospital. He is the System Vice Chairman for Education at Northwell Health and full Professor of Urology, Hofstra-Northwell School of Medicine.
Dr. Richstone completed medical school at Cornell University Medical College with acceptance into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), the prestigious national medical honor society. He pursued urologic training and chief residency at New York Presbyterian (Weill-Cornell) and Memorial Sloan Kettering. Dr. Richstone completed fellowship training in urologic laparoscopic/robotic surgery. He served as Chief of Urology for the North Shore University Hospital, then Chief of Urology at Long Island Jewish Hospital, before becoming Chairman of Urology at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.
Dr. Richstone is an internationally recognized surgeon who helped pioneer laparoscopic/robotic surgery for cancer of the prostate, kidney and bladder. He has over 90 peer-reviewed publications in journals including Journal of Urology, Urology, British Journal of Urology, Journal of Endourology, Cancer, and Cell. Dr. Richstone has performed well over 1000 robotic operations. This includes surgeries for prostate, kidney and bladder cancer and complex neobladder reconstructions completely robotically. His focus is on preserving urinary continence and sexual function.
Dr. Richstone is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS(G), member of the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO), the America Urological Association (AUA), and the Endourological Society (EUS). Dr. Richstone is the recipient of numerous awards, including Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), E. Darracott Vaughan Prize for Excellence in Urology (2000), Ferdinand C. Valentine Urology Essay Prize (First Place, 2005), The AUA-Ambrose Reed Socioeconomic Contest (First Place, 2005), and the Weill-Cornell Distinguished House Officer Award (2005). Dr. Richstone was awarded the Stryker Nagamatsu Fellowship (2007), first prize at the Endourology Society Paper Award the same year. Dr. Richstone won first prize at the AUA Research Foundation for Outstanding Research (2010).
