Pediatric Urologist
Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine
Dr. Chester Koh is a pediatric urologist and “physicianeer” at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH), and Professor of Urology, Pediatrics, and OB/GYN at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM). He also holds adjunct titles at USC, UT Houston, and in the Rice University Department of Bioengineering, and serves on the Texas A&M ENMED Innovation Advisory Panel. Dr. Koh received his B.S. with Honors in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, his MD from Tufts University School of Medicine, and completed his urology residency at USC, and his pediatric urology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston / Harvard Medical School.
His clinical area of expertise is in minimally invasive surgery in children, especially with robotic surgery, single incision laparoscopic surgery, and the device needs in this area. Dr. Koh serves as the Director of the Pediatric Robotic Surgery Program at TCH / BCM as well as the Pediatric Urology Fellowship Director. He also serves as the planning co-director of the Pediatric session at the annual North American Robotic Urology Symposium (NARUS) and is the current board chair of the Korean American Medical Association.
He is also the founder, contact principal investigator, and executive director of the Southwest National Pediatric Device Innovation Consortium (SWPDC) which is a FDA P50 grant-supported multi-institutional consortium at TCH and BCM with Texas A&M University, Rice University, University of Houston, and Fannin Innovation Studio which supports the innovation and development of pediatric devices especially in the Houston / Southwest U.S. region with partners including TMCx and JLABS@TMC. The consortium is dedicated to improving children’s health by supporting pediatric device innovators to create novel pediatric medical devices with local, regional, and national institutional and innovation partners.
