Dr. Pierorazio is a Professor of Urology and Chief of the Section of Urology at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Pierorazio has expertise in all malignancies of the urinary tract and performs both open and minimally invasive surgeries including laparoscopic and robotic surgeries of the kidney, bladder, prostate, and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for testicular cancer. His academic interests parallel his clinical practice where he publishes extensively on high-risk surgeries, quality of care, and minimizing the impact of surgical treatments on patients. He runs the Delayed Intervention and Surveillance for Small Renal Masses (DISSRM) Registry – the largest active surveillance registry for patients with small kidney tumors. He is instrumental in national guidelines, including both the American Urological Association (AUA) and National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Guidelines Committees, for Kidney, Testicular, and Upper Tract Urothelial Cancer. He is a coach to many young surgeons and the creator of “Operate with Zen” – a podcast designed to bring a mindful approach to surgery and being a surgeon.
