Costas Lallas, MD, FACS, is the Nathan Lewis Hatfield Professor and Vice Chair of Education in Urology at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He has dedicated much of his career at Jefferson toward education. He currently holds leadership positions in both UME and GME realms, serving as the Director of medical student education, the associate program director for the urology residency, and the Co-Director for the Endourology Society-recognized fellowship in minimally invasive urologic oncology. He recently served a year term as the President of the MidAtlantic Section of the AUA and remains on the MAAUA Board. He is also the Chair of the AUA COI working group and is on the Education Council.
Clinically, he has focused his career on the minimally-invasive surgical management of urologic malignancies. He serves as the Medical Director of the Small Renal Mass Center multidisciplinary clinic in the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center. He is a member of multidisciplinary management teams in urologic oncology and renal transplantation at TJUH. He serves as the Director of Robotic Surgery and the Director of Surgical Simulation for TJU and TJUH.
Dr. Lallas completed his undergraduate studies at Duke University, his medical degree at Sidney Kimmel (Jefferson) Medical College, internship and residency in urology at Duke University Medical Center, and a fellowship in minimally invasive urologic oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona. His research interests include surgeries and therapies for prostate, kidney, and bladder cancer, surgical simulation, and curriculum development for undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate surgical education.
