My name is Joseph Alukal, MD; I am an andrologist/urologist on faculty at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center. I am Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Urology; I am also Director of Men's Health. Presently, I participate in national and international organizations in fertility, including the American Society of Andrology, where I served as Program Co-Chair of the 2017 Annual Meeting as well as Chair of Industry Liasons, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, where I served on the Continuing Medical Education Committee, and the Society for the Study of Male Reproduction, where I am past-President. I also serve as a reviewer for the Journal for Urology, Fertility and Sterility, Urology, and the British Journal of Urology International. I am a fellowship trained microsurgeon having completed clinical and research fellowship at the Baylor College of Medicine. My fellowship was funded by the AUA (American Urological Association) Foundation; this prestigious research award is offered to only 5-10 graduating urology residents pursuing academic fellowship in any given year. My research, relating to leptin and ghrelin as regulators of male fertility in the mouse, was selected for the prestigious Graduate Scholar Award.
