Dr. Ariana L. Smith, M.D. is a FPMRS fellowship trained Urologist and a Professor of Urology at the University of Pennsylvania and Chief of Urology at Pennsylvania Hospital. Dr. Smith did her residency training at the University of Pennsylvania and fellowship training at UCLA. She is board certified in Urology and FPMRS. She is a funded NIH investigator and serves as a Prinicipal Investigator for the Prevention of Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms (PLUS) Consortium. In 2014, Dr. Smith was elected to the AUA Research Forum (Showcasing Early Career Investigators) for her work Cortisol Awakening Response and Salivary Cortisol Response to Stress in Women with Overactive Bladder and Controls. In 2017 she was awarded two AUA Annual Meeting Best Abstracts for her work: Association between Urinary Symptom Severity and Automated Segmentation of White Matter Plaque in Women with Multiple Sclerosis and Specific Changes in Brain Activity in Women with Overactive Bladder after Successful Sacral Neural Modulation with Interstim: an fMRI Study. She continues to contribute to the AUA Core Curriculum, has served on the AUA Abstract Committee and the AUA Program Committee and is a very active member of the Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Urology (SUFU). She is Vice Chair for the Overactive Bladder Guidelines panel.
