Gerald L. Andriole, Jr., MD, is Professor and Director of the Brady Urological Institute in the National Capital Region Of Johns Hopkins University. He was the Robert Royce Distinguished Professor and Chief of Urologic Surgery T Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Andriole received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He trained at Strong Memorial Hospital and the University of Rochester and urology residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. he was a fellow in Urologic Oncology at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland.
At Washington University, Dr. Andriole has over 35 years of contributions in the areas of BPH and prostate cancer screening and prevention. He has been continuously funded by NIH since 1993 and has contributed well over 450 peer-reviewed publications. He is Chairman of the Prostate Committee of the Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening Trial; Chairman of the Prostate Committee for the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO) Clinical Trials Consortium; and Chairman of the Steering Committee of the REDUCE Trial (Dutasteride Chemoprevention Trial).
Dr. Andriole is a member of the American Urological Association, American Surgical Association, American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons, and the Clinical Society of Genitourinary Surgeons, among other societies. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including the outstanding achievement award from the Urologic Oncology Branch of the National Cancer Institute, the Distinguished Alumni Award from Jefferson Medical College, the Distinguished Clinician Award from Washington University in St. Louis and the Richard Williams Award for Prostate Cancer Research Excellence from the American Urologic Association Urology Care Foundation.
