Education and Outreach Coordinator
The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, Ontario, Canada
After falling in love with physics and being inspired by Chris Hadfield's trip to the ISS in 2013, Samantha decided to pursue a physics and astronomy degree. She graduated in 2019 from the University of Waterloo with a BSc in Physics with an Astrophysics Specialization and an Earth Science minor. During her undergrad, Samantha discovered her passion for sharing science outreach and decided to make a career of working to help others appreciate the science around them. This led her to pursue a Master in Art focusing on informal science education, which she completed in June 2022. Samantha loves learning how the world around us works and is continually amazed by the vastness of space. During her graduate studies, she worked as an Outreach Assistant at the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. She transitioned to the full-time role as the Outreach and Education Coordinator in January 2022. Samantha finds this position incredibly fulfilling because she experiences and continues to explore all the phenomena she learned about in her undergrad. One of her favourite parts is sharing her love for space with others. Samantha is always learning something new from the incredible members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and loving every minute!
