Dr. Laura Baker is Professor of Internal Medicine, Neurology, and Public Health Sciences at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Associate Director of the Wake Forest Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, and Co-Lead of the Center’s ORE Core and REC Components.
She is an international leader in the areas of cognitive aging and lifestyle interventions to protect brain health and prevent cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Dr. Baker has been an investigator of over 55 clinical studies on aging and Alzheimer’s disease prevention and treatment, including a multisite study in the U.S. that tested whether regular exercise can protect against continued cognitive decline in older adults with amnestic Mild Cognitive Impairment.
In the last 10 years, Dr. Baker has served on several national taskforces focused on increasing diverse representation of underserved older adults in AD clinical studies.
