Dr. Veronica Lopez-Teros is a Professor at the Nutrition Faculty of Universidad de Sonora, where she is the head of the Graduate School in Health Sciences and leader of the Nutritional Sciences Research group. She is also a member of the American Society for Nutrition and the Latin American Society for Nutrition. Since 2000, she has been working in the assessment of nutritional status, interactions between nutrition and infection, and the effectiveness of nutritional interventions, with particular emphasis in vitamin A status and kinetics in different population groups (preschool and school-age children, adolescents, and lactating women) using serum retinol, dose response tests, and stable-isotope-labeled retinol dilution techniques as biomarkers for the assessment of vitamin A.
