Nancy F. Krebs, MD, MS is a Professor of Pediatrics, Head of the Division of Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She obtained her M.D. from the University of Colorado, and is board certified in General Pediatrics, Clinical Nutrition and Pediatric GI. Dr. Krebs’ research has covered components of the entire 1000 days, with focus on the impact of nutrition and feeding on impaired growth of breastfed infants and young children in the U.S. and international settings. She has conducted extensive research applying stable isotope methodologies to characterize zinc and iron homeostasis and requirements in vulnerable populations in austere settings consuming supplements, micronutrient powders, and biofortified foods. Her most recent international research investigated the impact of a pre-conception maternal nutrition intervention to improve fetal and infant growth in low resource settings in 4 countries. She has over 350 research and scholarly publications. Research sponsors include the NIH, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and others. She has held many leadership roles, including past Chair of the Committee on Nutrition for the American Academy of Pediatrics, and current member of the FAO/WHO Expert Group on Nutrient Requirements for Children Aged 0-36 months; and the Breastmilk Ecology (“BEGIN”) project for NIH.
