My name is Sofie De Wandel and I am currently a doctoral student Exercise Physiology at the Center for Translational Research in Aging and Longevity (CTRAL), Dept. Health and Kinesiology at Texas A&M University. I received my Masters in Exercise Physiology in 2019 from Baylor University. My research interests at CTRAL include the impact of exercise and nutrition to restore amino acid metabolic disturbances in individuals with chronic disease and mild cognitive impairment.
Clinical and translational research at CTRAL involves acute and RCT nutrition and exercise studies, as well functional testing (muscle, cognitive, and gut health) in populations across the lifespan, as well as in a variety of diseases with nutritional disturbances. Furthermore CTRAL studies provide mechanistic insight in changes in metabolism using fluxomics and metabolomics approaches of amino acids using advanced stable isotope methodology.
