Yu Hasegawa is a University of Wisconsin (UW) Dairy Innovation Hub Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Food Science at the UW-Madison. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Food Science from the University of California-Davis.
She is interested in understanding the impact of food and dietary bioactives on immune function to lower disease risk and promote health.
Her current research projects include mouse and human intervention studies to understand how yogurt reduces chronic inflammation associated with obesity. She also studies the chemical profiles and biological functions of bioactives from yogurt in a culture cell model. After completion of postdoctoral training, she is interested in pursuing a career in industry.
