Dr. Zhonghai Zhu is an assistant professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Health Statistics at Xi’an Jiaotong University. His research focuses on the influence of nutrition and other modifiable factors during the first 1000 days of life on life-course maternal and child health, especially cardiometabolic health, cognitive development and behavioral and emotional outcomes. He has also published widely on perinatal influences on child and adolescent health. In support of this work he has led longitudinal studies commencing in the peripartum period and following mothers and children throughout adolescence. He is a principal investigator of projects supported by National Natural Science Foundation of China and China Postdoctoral Science Foundation such as “Complex associations of dynamic physical growth during early life with adolescent blood pressure:A birth cohort study” “Complex associations of dynamic physical growth during early life with adolescent blood pressure:A birth cohort study”, “Dynamic associations between iron nutrition and intestinal microecology and cognitive development in infants within 2 years of age in western rural areas: a prospective mother-infant cohort”.
