Director, Scientific Affairs
National Dairy Council
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
I'm a nutrition scientist and a passionate learner, writer and communicator of how agriculture, nutrition and health fit into an encompassing global sustainable food system. My professional goal is to use my training and skills to distill and communicate complex science in relevant and relatable ways to empower others.
In my current position as the Director of Scientific Affairs at National Dairy Council, my role is to educate and translate the science on dairy's contributions to health and wellness and sustainable food systems. A Rhode Island native, I earned a BS in Animal Science and Technology from the University of Rhode Island and a PhD in Animal, Nutrition and Food Sciences from the University of Vermont. My thesis work focused on how eating different types of fats impacts metabolic health later in life.
Prior to joining National Dairy Council, I was a post-doctoral associate at the University of Vermont, where I used my expertise to focus on understanding more about the relationship between the gut microbiome and the immune system.
Outside of my work, I love to experiment in the kitchen, cook and bake for friends and family, bike, practice yoga, and catch a theater show.
