Dr. Greg Shelness serves as the Scientific Review Officer for the Integrative Nutrition and Metabolic Processes (INMP) Study Section within the NIH Center for Scientific Review (CSR). After receiving his Ph.D. in pharmacology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Dr. Shelness completed post-doctoral training in cell biology at The Rockefeller University in New York City. He then joined the Faculty of Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, where he established his own research program to study hepatic lipid metabolism, with a particular focus on the evolution and mechanisms of intracellular lipoprotein assembly and transport. Dr. Shelness has considerable experience in the area of peer review, including service as a member of the NIH Cellular Aspects of Diabetes and Obesity Study Section. Dr. Shelness left Wake Forest in 2014 at the rank of professor to join CSR.
