Nutrition Rounds - Research to Practice is a series of virtual events targeted to practicing clinicians that reviews cutting-edge advances in nutrition and obesity science and their applications in practice. Join us for the program on hot topics in pediatric nutrition.
This program will feature hot topics in pediatric nutrition. As more preteens and teens choose to avoid meat, the impact of vegetarian and vegan diets on growth, development and nutrient requirements has been a topic of increased discussion. Dr. Lisa Patel (Stanford) is developing an American Academy of Pediatrics statement on this topic. Dr. Cynthia Blanco (UT Health San Antonio) is a neonatology researcher whose interests are in parenteral and enteral nutrition of the critically ill neonate. She will review nutrition in children with major heart and lung disease. Finally, Dr. Steve Abrams (University of Texas) will review how new infant formulas enter the market, a timely topic in light of recent shortages.
