Postdoctoral Fellow
AdventHealth Translational Research Institute
Dr. Daria Igudesman earned her PhD in Nutrition with a minor in Epidemiology and the requirements for licensure as a Registered Dietitian from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 2022. During her PhD training, Dr. Igudesman was co-advised by Drs. Elizabeth Mayer-Davis and Ian Carroll, whose programs of research focus on diabetes and the gut microbiome, respectively. This unique combination of clinical translational training allowed Dr. Igudesman to secure a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the AdventHealth Translational Research Institute for Metabolism and Diabetes in Orlando, Florida, where she is continuing to pursue her research interests related to weight and glycemic management and the potential role of the intestinal microbiota in people with diabetes and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease--now with a mechanistic focus (i.e., using controlled feeding studies, comprehensive energy balance assessment using calorimetry, stable isotope techniques, etc.)--under the supervision of Dr. Karen Corbin.
