Katrina Callahan is from Hartford, South Dakota, originally and attended West Central High School where she was involved in many different governmental organizations and interned for different law firms around the area. She then attended the University of South Dakota where she studied political science and economics and was able to present an honors thesis about South Dakota's K-12 civics education standards and its effect on civic engagement after graduation per graduation requirements. She is now a law student at Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa. In May of 2021, she was employed as a legal research assistant for the Harkin Institute for Public Policy & Citizen Engagment where she conducted research for the Nutrition & Wellness program.
