Charlotte A. Pratt, PhD, MS, RD, FAHA
Dr. Pratt is a Deputy Branch Chief in the Division of Cardiovascular Sciences, Prevention and Population Science Program, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), National Institutes of Health. She received her masters and doctoral degrees in nutrition sciences from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities and Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition and food science from the University of Ghana, Legon. Prior to joining the NHLBI in 2000, she held academic and research positions as tenured Associate Professor at Virginia Tech, Associate Professor at Michigan State University, Senior Fulbright Scholar at the University of Malawi, Associate Professor and Director of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics at Eastern Michigan University, Senior Research Scientist and Director of the Resource Center for Cardiovascular Health, Michigan Public Health Institute; and a nutritionist at the United States Department of Agriculture, Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion. At NHLBI, she holds many leadership positions, including Deputy Branch Chief (Supervisory), member of the Senior Leadership Group, Nutrition Research Task Force; and program director for a number of studies including maternal and child cardiovascular health promotion, childhood obesity prevention and treatment research, nutrition, and overweight and obesity prevention. She was a past chair of the Minority and Diversity Affairs Committee of the American Society for Nutrition. She has authored or co-authored more than 100 research publications. Her research interests are in the areas of nutrition, obesity, cardiovascular health promotion, health disparities and global health research.
