Joanne F. Guthrie is a Senior Research Nutritionist in the Food Assistance Research Branch of the Food Economics Division of ERS. She began her Federal service career as a student employee at USDA/ARS Beltsville Agricultural Research Center. In addition, she worked with several other Federal agencies, including the USDA’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration before coming to ERS. She is also a former Peace Corps Volunteer. She holds a Master’s of Public Health degree and a doctoral degree in Human Nutrition. She has authored or co-authored numerous USDA publications and has published in peer-reviewed journals. Most recently, she has authored or co-authored publications on how USDA food assistance and nutrition programs contribute to children’s food security and dietary status.
