Research Assistant / Spatial Analyst
Tufts University School of Medicine
I am the Program Manager for the Equity Research in Health, Wealth, and Civic Engagement Cluster at Tufts University, and a Research Assistant working in the lab of Dr. Thomas Stopka on multiple studies employing spatial analysis of measures of the opioid crisis in Massachusetts and the U.S. Current personal studies in development involve bus access to healthy food, early prevalence of COVID in a low-income community, a novel method for evaluating the pattern of filling of ICU beds in a pandemic surge, national attitudes towards reparations for descendants of American slavery, and national attitudes toward gerrymandering. Formative experiences in my public health, mapping, and nutrition career included internships in Malawi and in Mozambique, where I located and mapped remote health centers for a large blood draw study and survey. I recently won the Outstanding Applied Learning Experience Award in the Tufts School of Medicine Department of Public Health and Community Medicine for my capstone project “Improving Healthy Food Access Spatial Analyses With Community Input and Retailer and Food Pantry Surveys.”
