Anouk Gijbels is a PhD candidate in the Nutrition, Metabolism and Genomics group at Wageningen University, the Netherlands since 2017. She works in the group of dr. ir. Lydia Afman and her work focuses on precision nutrition for metabolic health. In close collaboration with Maastricht University, she performed the PERSON study, one of the first randomised clinical trials in the field of precision nutrition to test effects of a more personalised dietary intervention on cardiometabolic health outcomes. The results of this trial are expected in Spring/Summer 2022.
Before joing the NMG group as a PhD candidate, Anouk obtained her BSc degree (cum laude) in Health Sciences from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam in 2015 and her MSc degree (cum laude) in Nutrition and Health from Wageningen University in 2017. During her MSc, she performed her internship at the Diabetes and Metabolism Research Group at Maastricht University.
