Senior Development Specialist

Anne Schaafsma is a Senior Development Specialist within the department of Expert Teams Nutrition, FrieslandCampina R&D. He started his career within this company in 1978, first as a microbiological researcher and since 1989 as a nutrition expert. From 1994-2000 he did his PhD research (Life Sciences, University Maastricht, The Netherlands). From 2014-2018 he was professor Food Health and Safety at Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. Main interests are specialized products for infants, children, pregnant and lactating women, and adults with emphasis on nutrition-bone, -brain and -immunology relationships. Studies in close collaboration with Dutch and international universities and hospitals resulted in an authorship in 55 publications in national and international peer-reviewed journals.
