Dr. Suzan Hussin Tami is an assistant professor in the Department of Clinical Nutrition in the College of Applied Medical Sciences at King Faisal University. Dr. Tami earned her bachelor’s degree in Food & Nutrition Sciences from King Abdulaziz University, KSA (2005). She received both of her Master’s (2010) and PhD (2016) degrees in Nutritional Sciences from Texas Tech University, USA. Focusing on the effect of culture ad acculturation on dietary and physical activity behaviors in Arab mothers and their children living in the U.S., she published a few articles and participated in several international conferences held by different organizations, such as Texas Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, International Society of Behavioral Nutrition & Physical Activity, and American Society for Nutrition. She also established the Graduate Nutrition Organization at Texas Tech University in order to educate and motivate the university students and the community with the information they need to create wellness objectives that work for their lifestyles. During her first PhD year, she joined King Faisal University through the Recruiting Outstanding Saudi Students Abroad Program.
Dr. Tami has been passionate about helping people make better food choices, alter their eating habits, and improve their lifestyles and health. She believes in the importance of nutrition prevention through nutrition education and lifestyle modifications. Dr. Tami took her mission in community nutrition to the next level and presented several nutrition education programs in Al-Ahssa and started the “For a Better Life” campaign to influence and encourage the King Faisal University’s community to improve their food and lifestyle choices to have a healthful life. She also has been writing different articles in nutrition and public health awareness in order to reach the public community. Her motivation to continue learning about healthy dietary alternatives and lifestyle options for optimal health has expanded her knowledge for the body as a whole.
