Carla El-Mallah is a PhD Candidate in Biomedical Sciences at the American University of Beirut with a focus on Nutrition. She has a background in therapeutic dietetics with around 6 years of clinical experience, and then she moved into the research and consultancy world with a particular interest in nutritional assessments. In 2015, Carla was granted the Abdul Hadi Debs Endowment Award for academic excellence and research capabilities and in 2019, she was shortlisted for the Young Researcher Award 2019 at the 11th Annual Hydration for Health Scientific Conference, France.
In her academic career, Carla has published more than 16 peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts, a book chapter, and numerous reports. She has also been involved in teaching (NFSC220, NFSC240) at the American University of Beirut, and she has been coordinating the Nutrition in Emergencies regional course since 2016.
