Kelley Koeppen is a graduate student at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, completing a Master of Science in Public Health – Human Nutrition degree. Prior to Johns Hopkins, she graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 2018 with a B.A. in Chemistry. Within the field of nutrition, her primary interest area is in reducing food insecurity through designing more equitable food systems that support healthy communities. While completing her master’s degree, she has been working as a research assistant at Johns Hopkins with a team that is developing a mobile-application to improve the distribution network of affordable, fresh produce between local farmers and small food retail stores in the city of Baltimore. She primarily conducts outreach and interviews with farmers, store owners, and state-level government officials in order to better understand the Baltimore food system and inform development of an app that meets the needs of food system stakeholders.
