The pitaya is an endemic fruit of the arid zones of Mexico that has been little studied and also little consumed. However, our work has aroused interest in its study, since the compounds that have been previously observed in this fruit have already been related to beneficial properties for health. This year we published a study in which it is observed that pitaya may have antihypetensive properties, a property that has not yet been studied and on which we are currently working.
