Michael Dzakovich’s research lies at the interface of plant genetics and human nutrition. The overall goal of his laboratory is to leverage natural variation in food crops to better understand what chemical properties affect human health and define genetic targets that can be used by breeders to create improved varieties. This goal is accomplished by combining genetic analysis techniques with targeted and untargeted "omics" approaches as well as in vitro/vivo models to contextualize findings.
