Pratik Pokharel is a PhD Fellow at the Nutrition and Health Innovation Research Institute, School of Medical and Health Sciences, Edith Cowan University, Australia and Danish Cancer Society Research Center, Denmark. He received Erasmus Mundus Excellence Scholarship (2018-2020) to pursue a master’s degree in European Public Health (specialization in Epidemiology and Biostatistics) from the University of Sheffield, UK and EHESP School of Public Health, France. Before that, he worked as a nutritionist in clinical and community settings of India and Nepal by being involved in USAID-funded and World Bank-supervised projects such as SUAAHARA (Good Nutrition) and Agriculture and Food Security Project.
His research interest includes the role of diet and lifestyle on type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. He is currently working on the underlying dietary patterns, dietary intake of vegetables, components such as vitamin K1 and dietary nitrate in the context of the Danish Diet, Cancer and Health study and Australian Diabetes, Obesity and Lifestyle Study for prevention of diabetes.
