Dr. Karyn Onyeneho is a Nutritional Genomicist and her research background focuses on genetic determinants of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults of African ancestry by investigating the association of genetic nutritional phenotypic traits, co-morbidities (such as Peripheral Vascular Disease), and genetic factors in adults of African ancestry to understand susceptibility for hereditary disease risk. Dr. Onyeneho is first-author of Barriers to Participation in Genomic Health Research by African Americans and Other Minority Populations: A Systematic Literature Review published in 2019. She holds a PhD in Experimental Nutrition, with an emphasis in nutrigenetics and Type 2 Diabetes, from Howard University; a Master of Science Degree in Health Informatics from George Mason University; and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Sciences and Management, Magna Cum Laude, from Howard University.
