Michael Ward, MD, PhD, MBA is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and a staff emergency physician at the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, Nashville. He earned his PhD in operations management at the University of Cincinnati after completing a research fellowship in operations research. He is an ad hoc member of the VA Emergency Medicine Field Advisory Committee (EMFAC). His research is funded by NIH and the Department of Veterans Affairs and focuses on inter-facility transfers of patients with time-sensitive conditions from the emergency department.
