Dr. Singer is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Vice Chairman for Research at Stony Brook University. His main areas of research include cutaneous wound healing, pain management, and cardiovascular disease. Dr. Singer has over 400 publications, including several in the New England Journal of Medicine and JAMA. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Clinical and Experimental Emergency Medicine. He is also on multiple editorial boards and is a reviewer for multiple journals within emergency medicine and other specialties. Dr. Singer has held multiple leadership positions and was a past Secretary Treasurer of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and is a member of multiple committees in ACEP and the AHA. Dr. Singer has won several national awards including the American College of Emergency Physicians Outstanding Contribution in Research Award and the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine's Excellence in Research Award. Dr. Singer has received several million dollars in extramural support from the NIH, BARDA, DOD, and Office of Naval Research as well as from industry. Dr. Singer has authored several textbooks including Emergency Medicine Pearls, Lacerations and Acute Wounds: An Evidence-Based Guide, and Skin and Soft Tissue Injuries and Infections: A Practical Evidence Based Guide.
