Samantha Beck, BS is a third year medical student at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, MA and a Research Associate at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. She graduated from The Ohio State University in 2019 and spent one gap year between college and medical school working as a medical scribe in a primary care office outside of Boston. During this time, she assisted in group sessions for the buprenorphine clinic in the office and developed a passion for working with patients with Opioid Use Disorder. She had the opportunity to continue to explore this interest while working with Dr. Elizabeth Schoenfeld over the past year on qualitative research that ultimately aims to increase utilization of buprenorphine initiation in the Emergency Department.
